A web application for sharing communication passports
About the Eben-Hézer Foundation
The Eben-Hézer Foundation supports adults with disabilities resulting from intellectual impairment, whether or not they are accompanied by mental health issues, autism spectrum disorders, or multiple disabilities.
As a multidisciplinary organization operating across multiple sites, it offers the people it supports a particularly harmonious living and working environment, along with a range of expertise tailored to each individual's needs and aspirations.
Challenge
At Eben Hezer, residents often experience communication disorders—ranging from mild to severe, including non-verbal individuals. To support them, communication passports are used. These documents outline their communication methods, preferences, strategies to facilitate interactions, and key details for engaging with them (e.g., phrasing, topics to discuss or avoid). However, these passports, though widely recognized, are often underutilized: poorly accessible, rarely updated, or consulted at the wrong time.
The project will be to create a dedicated platform for creating a communication dictionary (listing their unique gestures, sounds, or words), supplemented by short videos to clarify meanings.
