An assistive communication application

About Association Le Foyer

The Association Le Foyer is a non-profit organization. It manages specialized educational and socio-educational facilities. Its mission is to provide care and support to children, adolescents, and adults, regardless of age, gender, origin, or religious affiliation. These individuals have disabilities stemming from causes such as visual impairment, intellectual developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and other associated conditions.

Challenge

This project aims to design a mobile and highly accessible Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) board for non-verbal residents (ASD) at Fondation Le Foyer. The goal is to enable their independence during bus travel through an intuitive visual and audio support system: by pressing mobility-related pictograms ("Hello," "May I sit here?", "Buy a ticket"), the device plays the corresponding audio message, allowing them to communicate directly with the driver or other passengers.
