Bike adaptation for Jules

About Jules

Jules is 11 and a half years old and has right-side hemiparesis following a stroke he suffered in utero. Since he was 6 months old, he has been doing physical therapy once a week and occupational therapy every two weeks. For the past three years, he has also been doing hippotherapy once a week.

Alongside his therapies, Jules is very active and loves sports like skiing, climbing, and fitness.

Jules is very curious and has a strong interest in new technologies. He took a two-month course at EPFL in Sion to learn how to program a robot — something he absolutely loved! He is also very sociable.

Challenge

He would like to improve his comfort and autonomy when riding his bike, with secure, pain-free pedaling.

The project involves adapting a bike to keep Jules's left foot in the correct position using a cycling cleat, while also preventing his foot from touching the ground due to flexion.
