Bike adaptation for Jules

About Jules

Jules is 11 and a half years old and has right-side hemiparesis due to a stroke that occurred in utero. Since he was 6 months old, he has been doing physiotherapy once a week and occupational therapy every two weeks. For the past three years, he has also been doing hippotherapy once a week.
Outside of therapy, Jules is very active—he enjoys skiing, climbing, and fitness.

Jules is very curious and loves everything related to new technologies. He took a two-month course at EPFL in Sion to learn how to program a robot—and he loved it!

He’s also very sociable.

Challenge

Jules wants to improve comfort and autonomy when riding his bike, with safe and pain-free pedaling.

The project goal is to adapt a bike to keep Jules’s left foot in the correct position using a cycling cleat, while preventing the foot from touching the ground due to flexion.
